Vacuum Seal Bags and Shrink Bags for Meat, Cheese and Seafood

Serv-Pak gets vacuum seal bags and heat shrink bags made for meat, poultry, cheese and seafood processors. Tell us the product and your sealer and we match the bag to both.

Common applications

  • Fresh and frozen meat cuts
  • Whole chickens and turkeys
  • Cheese blocks and aging cheese
  • Fresh and frozen seafood
  • Jerky, sausage and meat sticks
  • Deer processors and custom butchers

Buyer questions

  • What product goes in and how big is the largest piece?
  • Do you run a chamber vacuum sealer or an external sealer?
  • Is the product sold fresh, frozen or aged?
  • Should the bag shrink tight in hot water or a heat tunnel?
  • Are there bone-in cuts that could puncture the bag?

Material options

Vacuum bags are multi-layer films. Nylon adds puncture strength and an oxygen barrier while polyethylene makes the seal. Shrink bags tighten around the product with heat for a skin-tight look.

Custom printing

Printed vacuum and shrink bags can carry your brand, the cut name and handling instructions. Many custom processors use plain bags with a printed label instead.

Sizing and specifications

Give the width, length and gauge in mil. External sealers need textured or embossed bags so the air can pull out, while chamber sealers use smooth pouches.

Quote readiness

Send the product and the size of the largest piece. Add your sealer model, whether it is fresh or frozen and your monthly quantity.

Vacuum Seal Bags for Meat, Jerky and Deer Processing

The sealer decides the bag. Chamber sealers pull air out of the whole chamber, so smooth pouches work and cost less. External sealers pull air from the open end of the bag, so the bag needs a textured or embossed side to give the air a channel.

Bone-in cuts are the next question. A rib tip or a fish fin can poke through thin film in the freezer. Tell us what you pack and we will match a heavier gauge or a tougher structure to it.

Jerky makers, meat stick brands and deer processors get the same answer: send the product, the sealer and your monthly count.

Shrink Bags for Meat, Poultry and Cheese

A shrink bag is loaded, vacuum sealed and then dipped in hot water or run through a heat tunnel. The film tightens around the product like a second skin. Whole chickens, turkeys, roasts and cheese blocks look cleaner on a shelf, and loose film does not catch or tear in the case.

Tell us your shrink equipment and the product size. We match the bag to both.

How to Choose Vacuum or Shrink Bags

  • Sealer type. Chamber or external. External sealers need embossed bags.
  • Barrier. Fresh meat and cheese need an oxygen barrier. Frozen product sold fast may need less.
  • Gauge. Heavier film for bone-in cuts and sharp edges. Thickness is measured in mil.
  • Shrink or not. Shrink bags give a tight retail look. Standard vacuum pouches are fine for many wholesale and frozen packs.
  • Food contact. Meat and cheese sit right against the film. Tell us so and the inner layer is chosen for food contact.

Product questions

What are shrink bags?

Shrink bags are vacuum bags made from film that tightens when heated. After sealing they go through hot water or a heat tunnel and the bag shrinks tight around the product.

How do you use shrink bags for meat or poultry?

Load the product and vacuum seal the bag. Then dip it in hot water or run it through a heat tunnel so the film tightens. Tell us your equipment and we will match the bag to it.

Do I need embossed vacuum bags?

You need embossed or textured bags if you use an external sealer. Chamber vacuum sealers work with smooth pouches.

Can vacuum bags be printed with our logo?

Yes. Vacuum and shrink bags can carry your brand and product name. Send your artwork and print colors with the quote request.

Are your vacuum bags food safe?

Food-contact materials are available for vacuum and shrink bags. Tell us the product so the inner layer is chosen for food contact from the start.
